    • Q:
How does Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), help collagen formation and repair?

A: Ascorbic Acid is a natural water-soluble vitamin (Vitamin C).  When taken orally it acts as an antioxidant, helping to protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals. The body also needs vitamin C to make the important protein known as collagen. Your body needs vitamin C to create collagen — an important part of hair structure. Vitamin C also helps your body absorb iron, a mineral necessary for hair growth.

Q: Can Ascorbic Acid help with damaged skin?

A:  Vitamin C can also help fend off the signs of aging because of its vital role in the body's natural collagen synthesis. It helps to heal damaged skin and, in some cases, reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Adequate vitamin C intake can also help repair and prevent dry skin.

      Q: What is Zinc?
A:  Zinc is a trace element. Zinc is necessary for normal growth and development, healthy hair, immunity and wound healing.

Q: Who needs Zinc and why?
      A:
Teenagers need more zinc to help with their growth and development. For many people/ cultures who eat a lot more vegetable based foods (i.e. Vegetarians), the absorption of zinc and iron is lower in vegetarian diets,  because vegetarians eat more legumes and whole grains (these contain phytakes, which reduce zinc absorption).

Q:  Can Zinc help reduce the appearance of acne?
A:  Yes: Due to zinc’s anti-inflammatory effects, zinc is especially beneficial for inflammatory or inflamed acne and related scarring.

Q:  If I have weak hair or lose hair from my skull will Zinc help?
A: Yes: Zinc will help maintain healthy hair and tissue growth and repair. It also helps keep the oil glands around the follicles working properly. A lack of zinc can lead to the deterioration of the protein structure that makes up your hair follicles. Zinc can improve hair growth in people who are deficient in it.

      Q:
What is the difference between Zinc Gluconate and Zinc Oxide.
A:  Zinc Gluconate is an especially well absorbed form of zinc used in supplements. Zinc Oxide is a mineral used in sunscreens and should be used on you and not in you.

      Q: What is Selenium?
A:  Selenium is an essential trace mineral required for cognitive functions and a healthy immune system adding strength and vitality to improved skin health.

      Q: Why take Selenium?
A: Selenium can protect skin cells from damage. Selenium neutralizes free radicals and other skin-damaging compounds before they can lead to wrinkles. Recent studies continue to emphasize the importance of selenium and other antioxidants on skin health and reducing the risk of skin cancer. It helps skin fight infection such as from acne.

Q: What does Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) do for your skin?
A: In its niacinamide form, vitamin B3 works to prevent water loss and retain your skin's moisture content.  It's also known to increase keratin production. When it comes to aging skin, niacinamide improves the surface structure, helping smooth out the skin's texture and reduce the look of wrinkles.

Q: Does Biotin help with Hair, Skin and Nails?
A: Biotin also supports energy metabolism in the body, and is required for protein, carbohydrate, and fat metabolism. Recent studies have shown that Keratin (the basic protein that makes up your hair, skin, and nails) increases it production leading to thinker hair structure and stronger nails.

Q: Can Biotin help with skin complexion?
A: It has been proven that biotin produces fatty acids that nourish the skin to maintain a clear complexion. When the protective outer layer of skin is unbalanced, dry and dehydrated skin can manifest. Biotin assists in the production of new cells and helps oil glands function properly, resulting in the healthy condition of skin. This is also the same for hair follicles on your scalp. Further and ongoing research will be required to provide necessary evidence to ascertain how much of a difference Biotin can make.
